Luxembourg

I woke up this morning and though,.. "Holy cow! I'm in Europe to study!" So today, I did homework. But only after touring an underground WWII holding prison, getting an espresso in the city, booking a sleeper train to Prague, going for a run in the park, and buying tomatoes and a fresh baguette for a snack.

In other news, I spent Friday in Luxembourg. At first, I was relatively non-impressed by the city. It's cool, but more from the "oh my gosh I'm actually in Europe" perspective than anything else. It didn't help that I was in a big group of students either. I feel like we spent more time looking for a place to eat then we did hitting the sites. This leads to...

Travel Tip #1: When visiting large cities, be sure to do some research prior to the trip so you don't miss out on something great.

I'm all for spontaneity, but sometimes a plan is nice. At least in the beginning. Around 3, my group got bored and decided to head back to Metz, which is a fast (and cheap) train ride away. However, another student and I decided to hang back and wonder around a bit longer. We happened to get lost and stumble upon a small neighborhood tucked away in the valley. Here, we saw more history and experienced more of a local atmosphere then anywhere else on the city streets. Awesome.

Travel Tip #2: Get lost EVERYWHERE (....and run away if things start to look sketchy).
